Privacy policy: Questions as Pages by UmberSea

The app runs inside your Confluence site and sends nothing to us. Here is exactly what that means.

Who we are

This app is made by UmberSea, a business name registered in Ireland (CRO No. 786893), 77 Camden Street Lower, Dublin 2, D02 XE80, Ireland. Contact: hello@umbersea.com.

What the app does with your data

The app runs entirely inside your Atlassian Confluence Cloud site, in your browser, on Atlassian's Forge platform. It reads the pages, comments, labels and spaces you can already see, using your own Confluence permissions, and shows the questions among them. What you post through it is saved in Confluence as ordinary content: a question is a page with labels, an answer or reply is a comment, the accepted answer is a property of the question's page, and your last tab and space are a property of your own Confluence user. Nothing is sent to UmberSea or to anyone else.

What we collect

Nothing. UmberSea has no servers for this app and receives no page content, no personal data, no usage analytics and no telemetry from it. Atlassian provides us with licence and installation counts for billing, under Atlassian's own terms.

What the app changes in Confluence

Only what you click: it creates the page for a question you ask (and, once, the "Questions" page a space admin sets up), adds labels to that page, creates the comments you post as answers or replies, records which answer was accepted (the accepted comment, the account id of the person who accepted it and the time) as a property of that question's page, and saves your own settings in your user properties. It never edits a page body or a comment, and never deletes, moves, restricts or watches anything.

Personal data

The app displays the names and account ids that Confluence already shows to you (who asked, who answered). It stores one account id itself: the person who accepted an answer, in that question's page property. It stores nothing about anyone outside your Confluence site.

Where data lives

In your Confluence site, hosted by Atlassian in the data residency location you have chosen with Atlassian. The app itself is hosted by Atlassian on the Forge platform. There is no third-party hosting.

Data processing

Because the app does not transmit or store personal data outside your Confluence site, UmberSea does not act as a data processor for it. Atlassian's handling of your Confluence data is governed by your agreement with Atlassian.

Retention and deletion

Questions and answers are ordinary pages and comments: they stay in Confluence, under your space's permissions and retention, until someone deletes them in Confluence, whether or not the app is installed. Uninstalling the app removes its access; a Confluence administrator can remove its page and user properties at any time.

Security

The app requests ten permission scopes: read and write pages (questions and the accepted-answer property), read and write comments (answers and replies), read spaces, search, write content (used only to add labels), read user details (names shown next to questions and answers), and read and write user properties (your own settings). Its source is reviewed and tested before every release, including an automated test that fails if any write other than the ones listed above is introduced.

Your rights and who to ask

Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you (for this app: none), ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland. Email hello@umbersea.com for any of these.

Changes

We will update this page and the Marketplace listing if any of the above changes, before the change ships.
