Questions as Pages by UmberSea

Questions and answers that stay in Confluence: every question is a page, every answer a comment on it.

What it does

Gives your Confluence Cloud site a place to ask and answer questions. A question is posted as an ordinary page under a "Questions" page in a space you choose, with its labels; an answer is a comment on that page; the accepted answer is marked on the page. The app shows them as a list (newest, unanswered, your own), filtered by label or space, and searches both the questions and their answers with Confluence's own search. It also adds a Questions page to the space sidebar, an "Open in Questions" item in a page's menu, and an "Open questions" macro for team and onboarding pages.

Because the questions are pages, they are in your page tree, in Confluence search, in exports and backups, and under your space permissions. They stay exactly where they are if you ever remove the app.

What it never does

It never edits a page body or a comment, never deletes, moves or restricts anything, and never writes when you only open a screen. Every change is one you just clicked: posting a question (a new page and its labels), posting an answer or reply (a comment), accepting an answer (a property on that question's page), and remembering your last tab and space (a property on your own Confluence user). Nothing is stored outside your Confluence site and nothing is sent to us.

What it will not do

Points, badges, leaderboards, notifications of its own or answer-only permissions. Confluence's own notifications, likes and space permissions do those jobs; this app stays small on purpose. Images are added on the page itself, with Confluence's editor.

Getting started

Install from the Atlassian Marketplace and open Confluence → Apps → Questions. The first time, a space admin picks the space for questions; the app creates one page there, "Questions", and that is the only setup. Then click Ask a question. Space permissions decide who can read, ask and answer. The person who asked, or a space admin, can accept an answer.

Pricing

Free for sites of up to 10 users. USD 1.00 per user per month above that, billed by Atlassian with your Confluence subscription; annual is ten months' price. Atlassian handles invoices, trials and refunds.
